BER-Aware Backscattering Design for Energy Maximization at RFID Passive Tag

AbsThe radio frequency identification (RFID) passive tag is wireless communication device with high energy sustainability, such that it uses the incident (RF) signal to backscatter its information. This paper investigates output load power maximization optimal impedances selection in (BackCom) network. The considered BackCom system comprises a reader broadcasting an unmodulated carrier downlink. backscatters information binary amplitude-shift keying (BASK) modulation uplink. We formulated average problem by jointly optimizing reflection coefficients while satisfying minimum bit error rate (BER) requirement and sensitivity constraint. To simplify problem, we transform BER constraint index reduce 4 variables 2 convex optimization problem. Using Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) conditions, design algorithm obtain closed-form expression for global maximize power. simulation results provide insight into impact of probability, constraint, on achievable An overall gain around 16% signifies utility our proposed design.
